More Than The Music

the mind and heart behind the sound.
Nathan Whitman, professionally known as Malewear, is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and audio engineer. Born and raised in Webster, NY—a suburban town just outside of Rochester—he moved to New York City in 2024 to attend SAE Institute of Technology.

Raised in a musical family, Nathan began drumming at the age of five, often jamming with his father, Mike Whitman, who introduced him to classic rock and a wide range of other genres early on.

Throughout his youth, he performed with groups like the Towpath Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps—a nationally touring ensemble—and participated in Camp Roc Star, a program founded by Daughtry’s Elvio Fernandes. He played in local cover bands and school ensembles, including jazz and wind ensembles, further expanding his musical foundation.
Nathan’s passion for audio production began at age 12, when his father bought him Logic Pro X. He quickly took to songwriting, releasing his first single, “Average,” with his band Leftovers in August 2019. As his musical identity evolved, he began exploring and drawing influence from a wide range of genres—including hip-hop, trap, R&B, and more—eventually launching his solo project under the name Malewear.

To date, Malewear has released 10 original albums, 6 EPs, and 22 singles. His newest album, “CINDY,” is set to release on all streaming platforms on June 28, 2025.
